Reverend Charles Carbonu, the sports instructor of the Madina Cluster of Schools in an interview with GNA Sports on Friday, said the games were geared towards helping Junior High School pupils to unearth their potentials in sports as well as keeping them fit and healthy to enable them contribute their quota to national and international teams.

He added that the games was also a catalyst to further promote and develop sports among the youth and urged the participants to take their training serious to be better placed to compete in upcoming final Inter-Schools competition.

Rev. Carbonu lamented the lack of jerseys, footballs, boots and other training kits in the various schools in the District and therefore appealed to the Ghana Education service (GES) to increase the Capitation Grant for sports to smoothen the operation of sports instructors in the Madina Circuit.

Rev. Carbonu urged the Government, Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to inject more funds into promoting sports at the Basic Schools for them to successfully organize sporting competitions.
