Maiden national chess championship

Accra, July 18, GNA -- The Ghana Chess Association (GCA) will hold it's maiden National Open Chess Championship on July 22. The event is scheduled to take place at the North Ridge Hotel in Accra with over 50 chess players expected to compete for honours in the one day event.

According to Mr Eddie Thompson, Tournament Director, a participation fee of 20,000 cedis will be charged for interested players to participate in the championship.

He said handsome cash prizes donated by the Association will be awarded to the first three placed winners.
