Majeed Ashimeru out to destroy Hearts of Oak on Sunday

Show me the man who pretends to love football, but hates the West Africa Football Academy [WAFA] and I’ll prove to him that he doesn’t know the name of the hospital his mother delivered him.

The 2017 Ghana Premier League [GPL] enters week 16 this weekend and I can boldly say that the match between the West Africa Football Academy and glorious Hearts of Oak at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope is going to be a veritable thriller.

Despite admitting that the match is going to be hugely contested for I also see that the skillful ‘Pistolero’ [Majeed Ashimeru] is the one who is going to make all the difference for the soccer physicians come Sunday.

No man can question the quality of players at WAFA but Majeed Ashimeru is the champ that runs the show at the camp [Red Bull Arena].

I personally don’t think there is any direct substitute for Ashimeru’s ball wizardly at the moment.

Apart from having a great technique on the ball, the skillful Pistolero [Majeed Ashimeru] is the type of player that could be described as having the ‘third eye’ on the field of play. This is because his vision to splitting passes to his colleagues in the opponents’ territory is simply marvelous to say the least.

Again, the midfield automated machine can split open any defence with a simple but an expensive pass and can also try his luck at goal in times of difficulties.

The chemistry and bonding between Majeed Ashimeru, Gideon Waja, Richmond Lamptey, and Caleb Amankwah is so strong that it’ll take only adhesive force to dissipate them in their element.

I watched WAFA’s game against Inter Allies at the Red Bull Arena on matchday 15 and I must confess that the rate at which the soccer physicians could stroke eight passes under three seconds is difficult to comprehend.

Begrudgingly, the most skillful player in the Hearts of Oak midfield quartet is Winful Cobbinah but Kwaku ‘Pele’ as some prefer to call him still lacks the panache that could propel him to the status of Ablade Kumah or Eugene Addo who had the ability to screw open every defensive knot regardless of how tight it may look.

Hearts of Oak would need to grease the waist of their back four and oil their midfield machinery very well in other to stand a chance of returning to the capital with a point on Sunday because the Atimevu drum shall surely sound and its only the soccer physicians that understands the rhythm of that traditional Ewe drum.
