Management of Hasaacas accused of lack of transparency and mismanagement

Sekondi, Feb. 11, GNA - The resent predicaments of Sekondi Hasaacas in the on-going Glo Premier League has been attributed to management's lack of fresh ideas in modern football management and a 'One-Man-Show' by the Chief Executive of the Club.

A group calling itself the Concerned Supporters of Hasaacas also said lack of transparency and accountability in the club's day-to-day affairs were a contributory factor to the situation in which the club was been threatened with relegation.

At a press conference in Sekondi on Wednesday, Mr William Morgan, spokesman for the group said the problem of the club which is currently at the bottom of the league table was mainly managerial and they would leave no stone unturned to reverse the situation. Mr Morgan recalled with nostalgia the hey days of players like Kuuku Dadzie, Emmanuel Quarshie, Isaac Paha, Kofi Abbrey and Joseph Carr among others who worked selflessly to make Hasaacas one of the elite soccer clubs in the country. He said poor management practices had resulted in the dormancy or non-existence of club structures to galvanize supporters and sympathizers to contribute their quota to lift the team from the present low performance. The spokesman condemned the practice whereby experienced players were transferred to other clubs at the end of each soccer season by management with the flimsy excuse that the club needs money to enhance its operation and alleged that such transfers were shrouded in secrecy to the detriment of the well being of Hasaacas. The group therefore called on the Patrons of the club, the Western Regional Minister, Chiefs, old players and other stakeholders to collaborate and form an Interim Management Committee to take over the affairs of the club before "we witness the doom of Hasaacas". It also called on the various executives of the Hasaacas Supporters (Councils) to boldly voice out the concerns of the teeming supporters of the Club to prove that they were not in league with management in the mismanagement of the Club.

Meanwhile, the National Councils Committee (Supporters Union) has named seven prominent citizens of the Region as Patrons of the Club with Nana Kofi Abuna V, Chief of Essipong as the acting chairperson. Other members are Nana Kobina Parker III, chief of Kettan, Lawyer Frederick Faidoo, Mr. Andrew Arthur,a representative of the Old Players, Mr Kojo Mosi, Supporters' representative, Madam Abigail Brace and Nana Appiah, Medical Officer.
