Andre Ayew says him telling referee Ruddy Buquet that Marseille are fed up with the treatment they receive from referees earned him the second yellow card after the final whistle in Sunday’s Le Classique defeat.

The 25-year-old’s caution was recorded on 96 minutes by the centre referee after the Ghana international approached him after the 3-2 defeat to PSG at the Stade Velodrome.

The Ligue 1 Disciplinary Committee may review the sanctions for Ayew following the reported case of dissent.

Ayew told the press after the match that he said nothing derogatory to the referee.

“I went to see the referee and told him ‘we are fed up’ and I received the second yellow card as we are not allowed to speak to the referees anymore,” Ayew said.

And then, he told the officials that I didn’t say anything bad but I came too close to him and that is not good for his image. There was an obvious handball on a strike from Gignac.

“But we are going to keep fighting. We will not give anything away. There are seven games remaining so we can bounce back,” Ayew added.
