Match Report: Dwarfs silence Liberty Professionals in Cape Coast

Ebusua Dwarfs grabbed their first win in six games after coming from behind to beat Liberty Professionals 2-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.

Benjamin Eshun, who spurned several chances for Liberty Professional scored from the spot to put the Dansoman boys ahead in the first half.

But an inspirational performance from man of the match Dennis Nkrumah-Korsah, saw him set up Alhaji Mustapha for the equalizer before scoring the winner after heading in the latter cross.

Liberty Professionals will have themselves to blame after wasting several chances in the game that could have been settled in the first stanza.

Goal scorer Benjamin Eshun could have fetched the opener in the 20th minute when he lobbed the ball pass Dwarfs goalkeeper but his effort lacked direction.

The scientific soccer lads enjoyed a better share of possession, controlling the half and came close with another opportunity when Bright Andoh's effort from long range went inches wide.

However, following a swift play from Bright Andoh, Emmanuel Amu and Benjamin Eshun, the Dansoman boys were awarded a penalty after Dwarfs defender Aikins fouled the ever impressive Amu.

Benjamin Eshun elected himself for the kick, and he subtly placed the ball into the net with the Dwarfs goalie unmoved.

The travelling side could have went into the break with a two goal advantage but Eshun made the miss of the season after failing to place an Emmanuel Amu cross into an empty net, with anguish drawn all over him.

Liberty Professionals returned from the break in an even explosive manner after Eshun, again, found himself and the goalkeeper to beat only for the striker to shoot wide.

The distraught attacker was played on again by the effervescent Emmanuel Amu with him the the goalkeeper again, but this time his effort was feeble.

Coach Reginald Asante Yeboah had no option but to substitute the striker with Muntari Mohammed, this was after the quite Bright Andoh had been replaced earlier.

With the scientific soccer lads failing top take their chances Dwarfs began to believe, started playing some good football, as Abu Naba, Alhaji Mustapha, Nkrumah Korsaha and Solomon Gyasi found their rhythm.

Solomon Gyasi could have fetched the equalizer bur selfishly shot wide to to deny his side who were trailing.

Moments later, Nkrumah-Korsah running through the middle to find Alhaji Mustapha who had created space for himself on the right to shoot pass Liberty goalkeeper Alhassan Dida.

The game suddenly switched momentum with the home side needing a win after the opening day victory over Berekum Chelsea.

The inspiration was found in experienced defender Emmanuel Ansong, who's long pass found striker Solomon Gyasi in the box, Gyasi strongly guided the ball to Alhaji Mustapha and his beautiful cross was met by the unrushing Dennis Nkumah-Korsah to hand the home side victory with two minutes to end the game and it was all despair in the faces of Liberty Director, and vice president of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie.
