Agyenim Boateng’s strike was enough to hand Medeama a crucial 1-0 win over Ashantigold in matchday 10 of the Ghana FA Special Competition on Wednesday at the Tarkwa NA Aboso Park.
Boateng magnificently connected Bright Enchil’s cross to hand the Mauve and Yellows a vital win at home.
Samuel Boadu made two changes in his starting lineup as striker Kwame Boateng and the goal scorer Agyenim Boateng replaced Toussaint Dedy Kalibo and Frank Kwame Kwegya respectively.
However, Ashgold coach Kjetil Zachariassen also made three changes to his starting lineup.
Skipper Tijani Joshua made his first appearance of the competition similarly Mark Agyekum as they stood in for Emmanuel Nti Mensah and Sadick Adams.
Amos Kofi Nkrumah also came in for Daniel Gozar.
Ashgold despite conceding first gave the hosts a good very good game with their entertaining and possessive football but that wasn’t enough to at least fetch them a point in Tarkwa.
The win thus gives leaders Medeama lot of confidence ahead of their trip to Bechem United on Wednesday.
Medeama have amassed 19 points, four more than second-placed side Asante Kotoko, who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Bechem United.
