Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Adja Tetteh has described the May 9th stadium disaster as one of saddest days of his career.
Over 126 soccer fans lost their lives in a stampede which occurred when Hearts of Oak clashed with Asante Kotoko in 2001.
It has been described as Africa's worst soccer disaster till date and midfielder Adja Tetteh who was a key member of the Hearts of Oak set-up says the day still has scars on him.
“I remember the day as if it was yesterday and I must say 9th May is one of my saddest days of life,” Adja Tetteh told Citi-sports
“I remember the goals because I was involved in the second one and Ishmael Addo got both goals for us.”
“It’s already fifteen years since then but we should ensure that it never happens again.”
