Medeama captain Muntari Tagoe has vowed his side will cause a massive earthquake ahead of their crunch CAF Confederation Cup play-off tie against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The Mauve and Yellows completed their final training session at the Lucas Moripe stadium in Pretoria on Friday evening.

There are no injury concerns for coach Tom Strand after influential midfielder Malik Akowuah shook off an injury scare to complete the exercise.

Tension is building in the air for the two teams with Sundowns slightly ahead as favourite.

The Brazilians are basking in the glory after clinching the 2015/16 South African PSL crown on Wednesday.

The odds are stark against the Ghanaians as they come up against a side which has scored 53 goals in 28 matches and gone 20 games unbeaten.

But Medeama captain Muntari Tagoe insist his side are not intimidated by the pedigree of the hugely popular South African side.

“We want to write our name in the history books and the journey start with Sundowns,” he told Medeamaafmonline.com

“They (Sundowns) are a powerful team on the continent and we have absolute respect for them.

“But we’re not afraid of them. We are an emerging force on the continent as well and have played some tougher games.

“We are going to do our best to record a decent result here in Pretoria ahead of the return leg back home in Ghana.

He added: “This game is extremely important not only for us as a club but for all Ghanaians. They are looking up to us and we cannot disappoint them again.”

Medeama missed a historic qualification to the money zone by a whisker two years ago after losing on penalties to Congolese side AC Leopards.

The two-time Ghanaian FA Cup holders are determined to rewrite the wrong and heartbreaks.
