Medeama SC striker Nathaniel Asamoah has been named the Ghana Premier League player for the month of March.
The Premier League Board settled on Asamoah ahead of Asante Kotoko’s Ahmed Toure and Emmanuel Gyamfi of Wa All Stars.
Asamoah scored two goals in three matches last month. He scored both goals at the Tarkwa T and A Park when Medeama defeated New Edubaise United 3-0.
He also won two man-of-the-match awards in the matches against New Edubaise United and Asante Kotoko.
One of his contenders, Ahmed Toure scored in each of Kotoko’s matches in last month - two goals on home soil at the Baba Yara Stadium, and one goal in their away match against Bechem United.
Gyamfi on the other hand scored twice in March, and won two man-of-the-match awards against B.A United and Accra Great Olympics.
Asamoah will receive 500 Ghana Cedis ($135) from the sponsors of the Ghana Premier League, First Capital Plus Bank.
The 22-year-old has so far scored seven goals out of twelve matches in the league, and is expected to push Medeama to a good finish.
Asamoah started his career at Wa All Stars and later joined Kumasi Asante Kotoko. He later moved to Serbia to play for Red Stars Belgrade before returning to the Ghanaian top-flight to play for 2013 MTN FA Cup champions.
