Malik Pimpong (R) is the son of former Black Stars striker Razak Pimpong
At just 18, Malik Pimpong is already beginning to carve out a name for himself in European football and his journey comes with a familiar Ghanaian connection.
The Eintracht Frankfurt forward is the son of former Black Stars striker Razak Pimpong, who represented Ghana at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Now, years after his father wore the Ghana shirt on football’s biggest stage, Malik is making his own mark, although his international journey has so far taken a different path.
Born into a Ghanaian family but developed in Denmark, Malik has represented Denmark at U17, U18 and U19 levels. He recently captained the Denmark U19 side, leading the team in their international engagement in Portugal.
His emergence has coincided with a major step in his club career.
Malik joined Eintracht Frankfurt from FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2026, signing a contract that runs until 2031. Before his move to Germany, he enjoyed a prolific spell with Midtjylland's U19 side, scoring 30 goals in 46 appearances across two seasons.
His performances earned him a move to the Bundesliga, where he has already been introduced to senior football. He has made two appearances for Frankfurt this season, underlining the club's belief in his potential.
Malik's rise is particularly interesting from a Ghanaian perspective.
His father Razak earned 10 caps for the Black Stars, including three appearances at the 2006 World Cup. He also spent a significant part of his club career in Denmark, where he played for FC Midtjylland, FC Copenhagen and Viborg.
Malik has already built a strong connection with Denmark through his football development and youth international career. However, his senior international future has not yet been decided, meaning Ghana remains a potential option.
