Members of Parliament commend Black Stars

Members of Parliament on Tuesday commended the Black Stars for their sterling performance in the ongoing 29th edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2013) in South Africa that has once again uplifted the image of the country.

The members appealed to the team not to rest on their oars but put in their best at the quarter finals to enable them get to the semi finals and urged Ghanaians to support them in the prayers.

The members were contributing to a statement made on the floor of the House by Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, the Member for Atwima Mponua.

He said the team had a lot of debutants but had been able to secure qualification to the next stage of the competition, demonstrating outstanding talent, poise and resilience and that Ghanaians should emulate this spirit to enhance the country’s development.

Mr Asiamah commended the technical team and the Ghana Football Association for their support the players and said “the technical manager has proven that with support and encouragement our local managers could be a force to reckon with”.

He also commended the supporters who tirelessly motivate the players by cheering them, adding that it is the hope of Ghanaians that the team will being the trophy home.

Mr Clement Kofi Humado, the Member for Anlo, said there was more challenge ahead and the team must work hard to win the trophy.
