Mensah heads back to Lyon

John Mensah will return to Olympique Lyon at the end of June for pre-season as he awaits a definite word on where he will play his club football next season.

The Ghana captain is still on contract at the French side despite spending two straight seasons on loan at English Premier League outfit Sunderland.

Sunderland have declined the option of signing the defender on a permanent deal and Mensah will attempt to work his way back into the Lyon team, unless a deal takes him away.

He has been told by Lyon to return for pre-season training on June 30 under new boss Remi Garde.

Mensah has already been linked with Queens Park Rangers in England, Glassgow Rangers in Scotland and Turkish gains Galatasaray.
