Ghana will be represented by their men and women's teams at the 2015 All-Africa Games football event later in September.
The Black Meteors and the Black Queens secured vital results against Mozambique and Zimbabwe respectively that earned Ghana places for the football event in both genders in Congo, Brazzaville.
It was the Black Queens who set the tone away to Zimbabwe in Harare. The Black Queens drew first blood through Portia Boakye, but the lead was short-lived just about a minute later with Rudo Neshamba pulling the equalizer.
Elizabeth Addo went on to restore the lead to 2-1 but it was cancelled again – ending the scores at 2-2.
With the Black Queens already holding a 2-1 first leg advantage, coach Yusif Basigi's team thus hand themselves a ticket to the All-Africa Games with a 4-3 aggregate scoreline.
In the men's category, the Black Meteors overturned a 0-1 first leg deficit by beating Mozambique’s Mambinhas 2-0 in the reverse encounter at the Tamale Stadium. Bright Adjei sealed qualification for Ghana with the second goal after Mozambique’s Salomao Mondlane had earlier on, turned the ball into his own net.
The 2015 All-Africa Games commences from September 19 to 30 in Brazzaville. The Black Meteors are the defending champions in the men's football category.
