Mfantsipim Senior High School retain the championship Cup

Cape Coast, Feb. 28, GNA - Mfantsipim Senior High School run a fantastic race to retain the championship cup of the Central Region Schools and Colleges Athletic competition when they bagged 85 points at the events held at the Schools and Colleges Park at Adisadel in Cape Coast.

St. Augustine's College took the second position with 66 points, Jukwa Senior High School placed third with 52 points, Assin Manso SHS placed fourth with 47 points and Apam School coming fifth with 38 points. Adisadel SHS placed sixth with 36 points, Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS too= k the seventh position with 35 points, Mankessim Secondary Technical placed eighth with 24 points, and Swedru School of Business (SWESBU) came ninth with 18 points while Nsaba Senior High School came tenth with 17 points. Michael Owusu Peperah of Mfantsipim School was declared the overall "Cowbell" best Male athlete in the competition.

He was first in 100 and 200 metres and also led his School's relay quartet to win the 4x100 metres event.

Seven records were broken in the Girls division with Jukwa Senior High School retaining the championship trophy with 135 points. Wesley Girls High School (WGH) took the second position with 128 points, Holy Child SHS came third with 90 points, Assin Manso SHS was fourth with 58 and half points while Agona Swedru SDA Senior High School came fifth with 50 points.

Winneba A.M.E. Zion Senior High School took the sixth position with 48 points, Apam SHS was seventh with 31 points, Ajumako Besease SHS was eighth with 24 points and Obrachire Senior High School was ninth with 21 points while Mfantsiman Girls SHS came tenth with 20 points.

Christina A. Kore of Jukwa SHS was declared the overall 93Cowbell" best Girl athlete of the competition. She won the 100 metres, 400 metres hurdles and led her school's rela= y quartet to place second in the 4x200 event.

Adjoa Asenso of (WGH) broke the Javelin record with a throw of 33.50 metres against the previous record of 33.14 metres, Juliet Boateng also of WGH broke the record with a throw of 33.30 metres.

Jenifer Monney of (WGH) jumped 5.27 metres to shatter the previous record of 5.14 metres in the long jump.

Christina A. Kore of Jukwa Secondary and Hannah Ashong of (WGH) broke the 400 metres hurdles record in 1min.08.5 secs and 1min.09.9secs respectively against the previous record of 1min.10.2secs.

Patricia Forson of Assin Manso School broke the discuss record with a throw of 31.68 metres against the previous record of 31.26 metres. Lorna Tetteh of (WGH) and Sabina Paintsil of Holy Child SHS broke the shot putt record with a throw of 11.31 metres and 10.88 metres respectively against the previous record of 10.80 metres.
