Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has agreed to part ways with Greece giants Panathinaikos, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The former Chelsea midfielder agreed to separate his marriage with The Greens on Thursday following consistent injury challenges after joining a year earlier.
A close source to the former AC Milan star disclosed to Ghanasoccernet.com that the player and his agent, after prolonged deliberations with the Greek giants terminated his contract.
Essien is now a free agent.
The source then revealed that the midfielder will not be in a rush to join any club for now as reports are linking him to clubs in Asia.
Reports emerged that the Bison is on his way to join Black Stars midfield partner Sulley Muntari at Saudi side Al Ittihad.
