Midfielder Akwasi Sarpong has shared his reasons for rejecting offers from other clubs to join Ghana Premier League champions Samartex during the current transfer window.

The 20-year-old signed a three-year contract with the Timber Giants ahead of the 2024/25 football season.

Sarpong made the move to Samartex from Division One League side Skyy FC after an impressive performance in the lower division.

Explaining his decision to join Samartex over other clubs, he said, “It's sheer bliss to join the Timber Giants family as a youngster, looking at what the club stands for. A lot of clubs were after me but the project of FC Samartex endeared me to join.”

Sarpong is expected to be a valuable addition to the Samartex squad as they prepare for their first CAF Champions League campaign and defend their Ghana Premier League title.

Currently, FC Samartex is conducting their preseason training at Safari Valley in the Eastern Region in preparation for the upcoming season.

They have been drawn against Cameroonian side Victoria United FC in the preliminary round of the competition.
