Millennium Marathon gets big boast in regions

The much awaited first International Marathon to take place in Accra Ghana has been given a big boast by the National Organising Committee of the event.

After a successful event in Tamale, the Northern Region, the other regions are looking forward for similar or better runs. The next regional run takes place on June 20 in Wa after the Bolga Run was postponed due to security reasons. After Wa the race moves to Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region on June 27 and stops in Kumasi for another grand event on July1, 2015. The Oseikrom Runs hopes to attract a lot of people as t would be on a holiday.

From Kumasi the Millennium Marathon goes to the Volta Region and in Ho on July 11, before Koforidua in the Eastern Region on July18.

The Central Region Race which hopes to attract more students is on July 25, and then the Western Region gets its experience on August 8 to prepare runners for the main event in Accra on September 6.

The National Organising Committee headed by Amb. Ashim Morton have been working round the clock to make the Run very classic.

Some of the members of the Committee are Deepika Sharma Marathon Coordinator, Roland Bruce Head Media, Branding & Communication, Eugene Opoku Head, International & Diplomatc Relations, Hilda Appiah

Government Relations & Client Relations, Seth Osei-Agyen (Min. of Youth and Sports) and Kevin Antierkuu (Min. of Youth and Sports).

Others are Hon. Nee Adjebu Lamptey (AMA), Harriet Fosuhene (Min. of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts), Charles Twum Barima (AMA) Sammy Heywood Okine (SWAG), George Ashie (National Ambulance Service) George Lomotey (GBC), ASP. Daniel Darko Boateng (Ghana Police Service), Lawyer Kojo Sey (Millennium Marathon Sports Company), Richard K. Odum (LaDMA), Vivian Mensah (LaDMA), Kofi Adusei (Min. of Health), Franklyn Glover (AMA) and Ben Anane Nsiah (Ghana Tourism Authority),

Representatives from the National Sports Authority (NSA) made up of top officials from the Mass Sports Association and the Ghana Athletics Association are also on board.

Meanwhile, there are plans for five members of the NOC to visit Ethiopia to watch the Dasani Run and bring home some ideas and innovations for the Accra event.
