Milo U-13 Champions League launched

Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi has commended Nestle Ghana Limited, manufacturers of Milo, for their direct involvement in the development of juvenile football in the country.

To the GFA boss, the Milo juvenile program, which churned out quality players like Michael Essien, John Mensah, Sulley Muntari and Stephen Appiah, must highly be commended.

At the launch of the Milo U-13 Champions League in Accra on Wednesday, Nyantakyi said, “Our various national teams, no doubt have benefited from the Milo juvenile program. The initiative is laudable and we must commend Milo for that.

“That is why the FA is also committed with the ‘Books and Boots’ system where we encourage children who play to take education seriously.”

In like manner, Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Dr Albert Don-Chebe, Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Jacob Kor, Director General GES, in separate words praised Milo for investing in juvenile football for the past 20 years.

General Manager of Nestle Ghana, Mrs Freda Duplan said, “We want to once again take football to the doorstep of children in basic schools. We are here to celebrate future champions, demonstrate eating healthily and making them ambassadors of healthy living.”

Two or three regions will form a zone to battle for places in the zonal events beginning May 28.

At stake for the national finals scheduled for July 9 is 10,000 certificates and a trophy. It will attract 10 schools from the various regions.
