Milovan Rajevac shocked by Black Stars coaching snub

Ex-Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has been dazed by his exclusion from the five-man shortlist for the vacant Black Stars job.

The Serbian trainer failed to make the cut despite being heavily tipped to replace Kwesi Appiah.

In a rather surprising move, the Ghana FA overlooked the 60-year-old when they announced the final shortlist for the top position which includes Michel Pont, Patrick Kluivert, Marco Tardelli, Avram Grant and Juan Ignicio Jimenenz.

Nenad Glisic, who was Rajevac’s interpreter during his spell with Ghana, says the former Red Star Belgrade coach has been shocked by the turn of events.

“He is really surprised because he thought Ghana would seriously take him into consideration,” he is quoted by Accra-based Joy FM

After rejecting some offers that came his way, he was keen on returning to work with the Ghana FA.

“He was successful during his stay and since he knows the players and has a fantastic relationship with the federation and journalists, he was so serious about coming back.

“It is just unfortunate that he was not included, and I must tell you that he is not happy at all.”

It seems Ghanaians have not forgiven the tactician after he abandoned the Black Stars after leading them to a quarter-final berth at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa to sign a mega deal with Saudi side Al Ahli.

He also guided the Africans to clinch silver at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

The Ghana FA shelved the idea of re-appointing him to avoid bad press, according to reports in the local media.
