Clement Kofi Humado, Minister of Youth and Sports has reassured the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) of the Ministry’s commitment towards the construction of beach soccer arenas for the development of the sport in the country.

A statement from the GBSA copied to GNA Sports quoted the Minister as saying that plans are advanced in securing a parcel of land at Keta in the Volta Region for an arena, which would cater for both water and sand sports.

“With the little support and logistics at the GBSA's disposal, they are able to organize a very successful league so it is in order that all stakeholders rally to support the continuous growth of beach soccer in the country,” the Minister said.

Mr. Humado was said to have made the pledge at the coronation of Keta-based Sunset Beach Soccer Club as winners of the first ever beach soccer Premier League in the country recently.

The Minister pledged the construction of two arenas - one in Keta and the other in Accra.

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, President of the GBSA commended the Minister for his support and also updated him on the new partnership between the GBSA and the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The league, which included one for the Premier division was organised in partnership with CAL Bank, Clementia Contacto and Voltic Mineral Water.

Teshie United were adjudged winners of the Division One League category.**
