Ministry launches text and win promote for Black Stars

Accra, June 3, GNA - The Ministry of Youth and Sports on Thursday launched a 'Text to Win" promotion towards encouraging the sporting public to contribute financially to support the Black Stars campaign at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Nii Nortey Duah, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports who launched the event thanked the media for their continued support for the exploits of the Stars and urged them to continue to publicize the promotion code and to create the necessary public awareness to the cause of the team. The promotion, which has three draws, enjoins each subscriber to text Ghana to short code 1060 to Vodafone, Tigo, Zain an MTN networks to win instant prizes and is been supported by Mobile Content, providers of the content for the promotion.

The first draw which comes on 8th June, would have 30 winners getting the opportunity of watching the group matches with fully paid packages, the second draw comes off on 22nd June with 10 winners taking home 10 flat screen television sets while the third draw comes of on 6th July and would have five lucky winners going to South Africa to witness the final match. Nii Nortey Duah said a number of containers branded "Show your Love" would be placed at shopping centers, markets and filling stations to solicit for financial support from the public.

He said since the count down to the Mundial is at hand, prayers and skills of the team alone is not enough but there is the need for the sporting public to lend their support towards the sustainance of the team. The Deputy Minister acknowledged the support of various companies and religious organisations to the cause of the team.

He emphasized on the wearing of national colours and the use of flags on vehicles and homes as a way of support to the goals of the Stars. Nii Nortey Duah advised that since the game period would be at the winter peak period in South Africa, all supporters and fans should ensure that they are properly prepared with warm clothing to save themselves from the vagaries of the weather.
