with Sports Giant PUMA for Lesser Sports

The Government’s pledge to promote lesser known sporting activities in Ghana has gained grounds as the Ministry of Youth and Sports is taking steps to support all national teams, regional sports affiliates by signing one of the most lucrative and far reaching agreements with World Sports Kits Giant Puma for supply of kits, equipment and an international Sports infrastructural Developer, POLYTAN.

Ghana sports stands to gain about 90% discount on all equipment supplied to Ghana, which could lead to training and camping programmes to prepare national teams before major tournaments and eventual development of sports infrastructure by POLYTAN on an agreed favourable terms of payment between Ghana and POLYTAN. This agreement initially signed by former Sports minister Muntaka in Germany on behalf of Ghana was endorsed by the Former Minister Rashid Pelpuo, the current Acting Executive Director of National Sports Council Mr Worlanyo Agra and Alhaji Abdulai a Director at the Ministry of Youth and Sport on a similar trip to Germany.

According to sports management experts this is one of the most far reaching sponsorship PUMA is making available to any developing country for lesser sports. Insiders believe is because of the massive positive effects of earlier deal with Ghana Football Association brokered by renowned Sports management group, Squito sports Management based in Sweden and UK.

According to reliable sources in the Ministry of Sports, an order of sports equipment has been placed with PUMA, and plans are in the pipeline to develop sports infrastructure all over the country.

A lot of the lesser sports associations we spoke to are happy for this effort and development and hope the same boost Puma deal has given football in Ghana will extend to them.
