Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu has completed his pilgrimage to Mecca, fulfilling one of the five pillars of Islam.

Salisu shared photos of himself standing in front of the Kaaba, the holy stone at the centre of the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, on Instagram.

Following the completion of the pilgrimage, the AS Monaco defender has earned the honorary title Alhaji, given to a Muslim person who has completed the pilgrimage.

Mohammed Salisu's visit to Mecca comes after playing in Ghana's two wins in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to end the season.

The Black Stars player is currently on holiday after the conclusion of the 2023/2024 football season.

Salisu will participate in the UEFA Champions League after helping AS Monaco finish in second place in the recently ended Ligue 1 season.
