Mrs Esther Lily Nkansah, Western Regional Minister who was the guest of honour said golf is not a popular sport in the country because the sport has been associated to only the rich in society.

She said even though the myth surrounding this assumption is gradually being broken because children of different social background are taking part in the game there is still more work to be done.

Mrs Nkansah announced that the Western Regional Administration has plans to develop all golf courses in the region in addition to improving access roads to golf centres to boost tourism.

She called on the Ghana Golf Association to do more to popularise the sport in the country.

Mrs Selina Agyemang, Lady Captain of the Club thanked the sponsors and called on other corporate bodies and institutions to help develop the game.

Mr Andre Porchet, Managing Director of Nestle Ghana Limited and Mr Mawuko Afadzinu, a representative of Ghana Airways, presented prizes to the winners.
