Assistant trainer for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Micheal Osei has lauded the attitude of his playing body in the SWAG Cup win over Ashgold. Osei charged the players to bring back the glory days of the red army building from the SWAG Cup triumph over the FCPPL Champions.

Micheal Osei commended both teams for the level of commitment and technical display ahead of the 2016 top flight season. A superb free-kick from Eric Donkor landed David Duncan his first trophy as the head coach of Kotoko after a dreadful 2014/15 season.

The assistant coach of the 24-time league champions tasked the playing staff to build on their off season form if they are to land more trophies in the coming season. The ambitious trainer said his side fully deserved their victory on the night after a strong second half performance from the trophy-hungry Kotoko side.

According to him, “Both teams played very well in a balanced game especially in the first half.

“We dominated the game in the second half and deserve the victory with super free-kick from Eric Donkor.”

He added, “Hopefully, this is the beginning of more to come but we need to work very hard as I believe in team work. The new arrivals played a good game against a very good side that managed to maintain a lot of their players. They joined not long ago but played their part in our victory.”

Micheal Osei will be gunning for a trophy-laden season after ending the 2014/15 without any silverware. A mass overhaul in the camp of the record league champions will even raise expectations the more as they look to find their rightful place in domestic and continental competitions.
