Tema, March 19, GNA-Eshun Morgan returned an impressive net score of 62, to win this year's Tema Country Golf Club President's Putter Championship played at Tema on Sunday. Morgan, a member of Tema Country Golf Club, played 46 Back and 39 Front with a Handicap of 23, to win his first competition of the year 2006. P.K. Fiase came second with 65 net, Emmanuel Asare placed third with 66 net, Tony Ashiagbor took the fourth position with 67 net, beating Charles Tabi and William Yeboah on count-back
Comfort Amuzu won the Ladies category with 66 net, Mary Morgan took the second position with 68 net, while Joy Arkutu was third with 70 net, beating Rita Dzubey on count-back. The Professionals event, which was a tie between Baba Akologo and Emos Korblah has to travel to the Sudden Death before Baba Akologo finally emerged champion with a gross score of 68, pushing Korblah to the second spot.
The third position was won by Mike Komashie and A.S. Ibrahim with both scoring 71 gross, while E.K. Henaku, F.C. Dzikunu and John Mawule took the fourth position with each scoring 73 gross. The one-day 18-Hole Medal Play opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the Greater Accra Region, was sponsored by Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, President of the Tema Country Golf Club, who is also the Majority Leader in Parliament and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs. Mr Owusu Adjapong, in an address said the Tema Country Golf Club would do everything possible to ensure that the Golf Course is always in good condition to help promote the sport.
