Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, is confident that Jose Mourinho will have a huge impact on Ghanaian Alexander Djiku at Fenerbahçe.
Mourinho was announced as the new coach of the Turkish outfit on June 1, 2024 three months after leaving the Italian side, AS Roma.
Stephen Appiah, who played for Fenerbahçe from 2005 to 2008, opined that Mourinho has a knack for nurturing African players to become world-class.
"Jose Mourinho has been very good with African players, and I think everyone he’s worked with proves themselves, including Didier Drogba, Solomon Kalou, Michael Essien, Mikel Obi, and many others," Appiah told RG.
"We have Djiku, who has been able to win the hearts of the fans with the way he carries himself and approaches the game. I hope that with the arrival of Mourinho, he will be able to take his game to the next level."
Djiku has become the toast of Fenerbahçe due to his impact on defense.
