The players and technical team of Asante Kotoko were subjected to boos from their teaming supporters following an abysmal performance that saw them exit the MTN FA Cup in the round of 64.
It was a shocking exit from the competition for the Porcupines who lost to Division One League club, Asokwa Deportivo by 2-1 at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.
Coach Maxwell Konadu’s side took the lead in the 33rd minute when Richard Arthur struck one into the opponent’s net to separate the two sides. The opponents showed enough resilience in the game and in the dying minutes of the first half, striker David Cudjoe rose above his markers to restore parity for Asokwa Deportivo.
The striker continued to torment the Porcupines in the second half and later put one over goalkeeper Felix Annan to complete a brace. The opponents managed to stiffen the defense although Kotoko threw all their weapons forward in an attempt to find the equalizer.
The defeat was Asante Kotoko’s first knockout from the competition since it was re-branded to the MTN FA Cup.
Kotoko supporters who were incensed by the performance of their team queued near the team bus to shame their players.
The players who felt humiliated about the turn of events bowed their heads in shame as they entered their bus while the fans booed at them.
