Deportivo Alaves midfielder Mubarak Wakaso believes the side will avoid relegation despite their poor start to the Spanish La Liga.
Alaves are rocked-bottom after picking just three points from 10 games.
The side lost 2-1 at home to Valencia last Saturday despite showing improved performance.
And the Ghana international, who joined the side in the summer, remains confident the side will go up the standings if they exhibit similar mettle against Valencias over the weekend
"The coach was happy with the work of the team and the players as well, but we have to think that we have to win games already," he said
"There are always things to improve". In addition, he indicated that it is necessary to "score goals" and was optimistic in being able to climb positions in the qualifying table because "other teams do not have many points".
Wakaso explained that the squad has "the same mentality as before" and that whenever they jump on the pitch they do it "to win the game."
"When a coach comes there are changes and new things," said the Babazorro player and encouraged his teammates to play against Espanyol as they did against Valencia, despite the defeat.
