Black Stars midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has paid tribute to Andres Iniesta after the Spanish midfielder announced his departure from Barcelona.
The 33-year-old told a press conference on Friday afternoon that he would be leaving the Catalan giants after a 16-year professional career with the club.
Following the announcement, tributes have been pouring in for the midfield supremo with Wakaso not left out. The Ghana international since his debut with Villarreal has been one of Iniesta’s many midfield rivals in La Liga.
After 16 seasons at the very top of the game with Barcelona, legendary Spanish midfielder Andres Iniesta has announced he will be leaving the Catalan club.
His official announcement on Friday afternoon was heart-breaking, with Iniesta in tears throughout most of it.
“I want to thank my team-mates,” he said. “My only aim was to be a success at this club and I have done that.”
With regards to his future, Iniesta clarified that things are not done and dusted in that department yet.
“There are still things to be sorted,” he said. “I have said I will never play against Barça, so I won’t play in Europe.”
