The Ghana Football Association has attributed the team’s impressive run at the World Cup to the tough disciplinary code in camp. The strict camp rules nearly resulted in midfielder Sulley Muntari being thrown off the squad after abusing his team mates and the coach in a dressing room tirade following a 1-1 with Australia on 19 June at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi says “having discipline dovetails into the performance of the team.” Nyantakyi adds if Muntari “misbehaves again he will be thrown out.”

The Black Stars on Saturday’s night advanced to the quarter-final- Africa’s remaining contender at the tournament-with a 2-1 extra-time win over USA in Rustenburg.
