Suspended Black Stars midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari is eager to fly down to Ghana to appear before the 2014 World Cup Presidential Commission of Inquiry to testify to issues that hampered the team’s progress at the mundial especially his brawl with management member Moses Armah (MosPacka) which led to his expulsion from camp, close sources have revealed to footy-Ghana.com
Footy-Ghana.com has confirmed that the fact-finding Commission this week has secured permissions to engage beleaguered Black Stars trio Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien and Kevin-Prince Boateng from their clubs [AC Milan and Schalke 04 respectively] on matters that occurred during Ghana’s participation in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The 29-year-old is yearning to fulfil a promise he made in an interview during Milan’s pre-season tour of the United States to speak on his ‘bitter’ World Cup experience at an appropriate time.
“[Ghana] is my country. I love my country; I can never exchange any place with my country but [you know] there are certain things that I want to say but I’ll say them at the exact time. For now, I don’t want to talk about it but my country is always going to be my country,” he stated a couple of months ago.
Further to this, the commission expected to wind up and submit its recommendations in a report to government on November 14, is through families and lawyers, seeking to engage the three players in the shortest possible time [likely before the next international break] by their physical appearance at the media centre of the Accra Stadium or via skype calls.
FootyGhana reliably understands that currently, it is only Muntari who looks more interested to fly down to Ghana while Boateng and Essien may have their testimonies via skype calls.
Muntari and Boateng are currently serving indefinite suspension terms for their actions in Brazil while Essien has also not been handed a call-up [though yet to be handed a punishment officially] since he refused to take part in the warm up exercise prior to the Black Stars’ final World Cup group game with Portugal.
