NC forwards concerns of major stakeholders to FIFA – Draft statutes likely to be modified

The Ghana FA Normalisation Committee has presented major concerns expressed by football stakeholders in the West African country to the world’s football governing body – FIFA, for consideration.

The FIFA ad hoc body consulted major football stakeholders on the country’s new football statutes for governing the game with leading football club owners including Joojo Duncan, Abdul Salam Yakubu, Baba Gedo, Kurt Okraku, Alhaji Grusah, Fred Pappoe, Wilson Arthur, Charles Ntim, Cudjoe Fianoo, Nana Butler, John Ansah, while Hearts of Oak bankroller Togbe Afede XIV delegated Alhaji Akanbi to represent him, participating.

The meeting which was in line with the NC’s roadmap for engaging stakeholders between 20th July 2019 – 19th August 2019 also held consultations with representative from the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service and representatives from the Coaches Association of Ghana (CAG) will also be engaged.

Contrary to report that the NC did not take into account concerns of club owners during their stakeholder engagement exercise, Naa Odofoley has hinted that they have submitted concerns of stakeholders on the new statute to FIFA and it is likely the new draft will see changes before the elective congress.

“We have documented all concerns raised by stakeholders on the new statute during our engagements with them and forwarded to fifa for consideration,” she told Ghanasportsonline.com.

Article 88 which details on eligibility of potential Presidential candidate of the association has come under huge public scrutiny.

The Ghana FA has reportedly proposed 27th September 2019 for the election of new officials to lead the Association.
