In an even that could be dubbed as a heavily attended political rally with senior party and government dignitaries present, the United Kingdom and Ireland Chapter of the National Democratic Congress inaugurated two new Branches in Hull and Sheffield in the northern part of England.

This brings to nine the number of Branches of the NDC in the UK and five planted by the current Chapter Executives. Honourable Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, Minister of State at the Presidency, Mr Victor Smith, Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo National Vice Chairman and Director elections of the NDC graced the occasion.

In a presentation to the rallying audience, Honourable Elvis Ankrah touted the achievements of the government of the NDC ably led by President John Dramani Mahama. He emphasised the uniqueness of the character of the President, which makes him take superior decisions which are always in the interest of the country.

He contrasted that with the corrupt antecedents of the last New Patriotic Party government and its current leadership. He demonstrated why the President is unmatched in this year's election. He, therefore, charged the audience to proclaim to strengths of the NDC and its leader, President Mahama.

On his part, Mr Victor Smith observed that the NPP keeps changing their message since at each turn the NDC silences them with incontrovertible facts and solutions. He noted also that there are over half a million Ghanaians in the UK.

This offers the Chapter an opportunity to rope in more Ghanaians for the party. But, to him, this is only possible if current members keep abreast with the party and government's achievements so as to convince potential members.

Other speakers included the Chapter Chairman, Mr Kofi Kwakye, the Chapter Youth Organiser, Mr Kofi Adoli and the newly elected officers of Sheffield and Hull branches.

But for the tenacity of the Chapter Organiser, Mr Alexander Bediako, the Organisational sub-committee and the current branch executives who worked to arrive at Saturday's inaugurations, it would have remained on the planning board.

Madam Louisa Nelson, the Chapter Women Organiser, donated items which she auctioned to raised funds to the new branches.
