Accra, May 17, GNA- The General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Mr Mustapha Fahmy has recommended the payment of the Confederation Cup prize monies to Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko from its own account.
He said in an effort therefore to get the clubs paid the Executive Committee of CAF would meet on June 2 to take a decision on the proposal.
Mr Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a release copied to the GNA Sports in Accra said the GFA has been in touch with CAF on regular basis towards the payment of the 2004 Confederation Cup prize monies to the two Ghanaian clubs. He said however, that the latest information from the General Secretary of CAF is that the sponsors, Arab Radio Television (ART) have as yet not paid the sponsorship money to CAF.
Mr Nsiah said the advances that were paid to the Hearts and Kotoko were from CAF's own resources and that it has been trying hard to get the money from ART since the delay is not typical of CAF. The General Secretary on behalf of CAF apologised to the two Clubs and their supporters for the delay in the payments and hoped that the issue would be resolved soon.
