The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has hailed the selfless efforts of Ghana beach soccer players in chasing honour by bringing glory to Ghana.
Professor Patrick Twumasi welcomed the Ghana beach club champions Keta Sunset Sports at a brief presentation ceremony at the Accra sports stadium on Wednesday.
The delegation of players, coaches and technical officials were accompanied by the chief executive officer of Keta Sunset Reuben Dzidodo Adjaho and led by the President of Ghana Beach Soccer Yaw Ampofo Ankrah as well as his executives.
Professor Twumasi said the resilience and recent successes of Beach soccer was an example of determination, focus discipline and patriotism.
He commended the Sunset players for giving their best in Nigeria without any financial motivation, and because of this, he was moved to pledge a token of Ghc 5,000 to defray some of the cost incurred by the team.
Prof Twumasi promised to do more the next time the national team Black Sharks or a club side were going to be engaged in any international competition.
Also present at the ceremony was the protocol officer of Ghana Beach Soccer Mr. Gyamfi Kusi Awere and operations officer Nana Poku Amankwah as well as the deputy national development officer of the NSA Mr. Saka Acquaye.
Beach soccer will next host the regional super league in Accra on Saturday which will be followed by the champions finale bringing together the winners from the various regions who have contested so far in the beach soccer super league.
