Professor Peter Twumasi, Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has called on corporate bodies to support them with logistics to enable them to deliver on their ts core mandate effectively.

This, he said would go a long way in helping the authority mandated to manage, maintain and develop sports men and women as well as sporting facilities in the country, deliver on their goals.

Professor Twumasi, said this, when the NSA took delivery of two Toyota Hiace pick-ups, from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

According to the new NSA Director General, though the vehicles would help, it was woefully inadequate, considering the huge responsibility and duty on the shoulders of the NSA.

“These vehicles, we have taken over today would really go a long way to support our movements.

“Unfortunately over the years, the vehicles that are very essential in helping to execute our mandate properly are out of use, which has affected us tremendously.

“We had about twenty-three working vehicles, but as we speak now we have only two working, which is bad, that is why I am calling on all stakeholders, corporate bodies and individuals to come to the aid of NSA,” he said.

Professor Twumasi, who is the Head of Department (HOD) of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, College of Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology (KNUST) in an interview with GNA Sports, noted that NSA, would need more vehicles considering having offices in all the regions but without cars.

“We don’t have vehicles in all our regional offices and it does not auger well for what we have been mandated to do, all the regional offices should have at least one good conditioned and working vehicle” said.

He thanked Mr. Majeed Bawa, Deputy Director for NSA for his role in procuring the vehicles as well as the Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister for youth and sports as well at Mr. Frank Quist, Chief Director at the sports ministry for their unflinching support and assistance ever since he assumed office.
