NSC Acting CEO Bounced At 2010 Commonwealth Games Meeting

…. Causes financial loss to the state

Ghana could face another sanction soon following the outburst of the acting chief executive officer of the National Sports Council (NSC), Mr. Wolanyo Agra at a chefs de mission conference of India 2010 Commonwealth Games on-going in New Delhi, India.

The acting NSC CEO rained insults at the organisers for not allowing him to take part of the event without accreditation at the Opening Session of the event and was consequently thrown out of the meeting place.

“Look, I have sacked two ministers already and if Sena Dansua is also not ready to support me she will also follow suit”, the disparaged acting NSC CEO vehemently told the gathering as he was escorted out of the meeting place. He stressed that the President asked him to represent Ghana but that fell on deaf ears as the Committee works with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regulations which gives power to national Olympic committee (NOC) presidents to nominate their chefs de mission.

Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi Chairman Mr Suresh Kalmadi, MP, was surprised at Mr. Agra’s behavior wondering how any person at all could invade the meeting with claims that he was asked to represent Ghana by his country’s President.

When Mr. Agra was told that Ghana already had a duly recognised chef de mission (Mr. Frank Appiah), who happens to be the First Vice President of Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), he quickly spotted him and added more insults, lamenting ignorantly that he (Mr. Appiah) had taken up his job as the acting NSC CEO. The acting CEO returned to Ghana Wednesday, March 10, 2010, after causing financial lose to the state.

During the Vancouver Olympics early this year, a similar incident occurred where he was again bounced at the Games Village since he was not recognised. With fat per diems, the acting CEO has dented the image of Ghana sports administration on the international level with exhibition of incompetence, technical and administrative bankruptcy which has led to the indefinite ban of Ghana’s participation in international disabled sports by its world governing body.

It would be recalled that he clandestinely signed a document on behalf of the government of Ghana to secure Australia visas for hearing people instead of deaf soccer players, just after failing to outsmart the German embassy with a similar visa deal.

His scandalous deal forced the then Minister for Youth & Sports to sanction him from signing letters to diplomatic missions, particularly matters regarding visas, and dissolving the Disabled Sports Association, but the association is still operating in the dark by the support of Mr. Agra. The acting CEO currently operates with a longtime wanted man at the Ministries Police Station and an officer who allegedly raped a national athlete prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Currently, a deputy chief security officer has died, in the wake of Mr. Agra’s death threats to staff, warning them to stop commenting on his administration or else the grave would be their sleeping places.
