Nana Ama Dokua launches maiden Soccer Tournament at Akropong

The NPP parliamentary candidate for Akropong in the Eastern Region Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei on 5th March, 2016 successfully launched a maiden soccer tournament at Akropong.

The launch was held at the forecourt of the Okuapehene’s palace and among the program of activities was a pre-match conference in anticipation of the tournament scheduled for 6th March, 2016.

The tournament which is being organized to promote sports development in the constituency as well as foster unity and peaceful coexistence ahead of the 2016 general elections commenced the next day as scheduled on 6th March, 2016, and played host to former general secretary of the NPP Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John and a number of sitting NPP MP’s such as Hon. Mark Assibey Yeboah MP for New Juaben South.

The tournament is expected to run until 1st May, 2016 and in between the commencement and the final day activities, there would be a massive float in the constituency ahead of the final day games on 30th April, 2016.

A total of seven (7) matches were played on match day one which ended with Amonokrom beating Akropong by One goal to nil, Abotakyi lost to Larteh at home by 2 goals and Mampong also lost to Mamfe at home by one goal to nil.

The other matches included Obosomase playing host to Tutu which ended in a one all drawn game and Adawso who played host to Kokormu and Okorase who played host to Mangoase all played out one one drawn game. Konko also beat Nkwata by one goal at home and Kwamoso also beat Tinkon by three goals to nil.

The league table therefore has Kwamoso topping with a superior goal difference of three, followed by Larteh who also have two goals, Tinkon are at the bottom of the table with a minus three gaol deficit and Abotakyi are just above them at the bottom with a negative 2 goal deficit.

The eventual winner of the tournament will take home a giant trophy and a cash prize of GHC 1,000.00, jerseys and footballs, the second team will get a cash prize of GHC 600.00, jerseys and footballs and the third placed team will get a cash prize of GHC 400.00, jerseys and footballs. All participating teams will get footballs and jerseys.
