Nania hold Voradep to a drawn game

Ho, Nov. 8, GNA - Visiting Nania FC on Sunday held Voradep FC to a one-all drawn game in their Division One League match at the Ho Sports Stadium.

Nania FC surprised the home team with a second minute goal when Kwabena Boateng latched unto a loose ball from a long throw-in in the vital area of Voradep to beat goalie Abubakari to send the stadium into dead-silence.

The game them became a ding-dong affair with both teams concentrating play in mid-field with occasional breakthroughs which they either missed narrowly, went wide or was grabbed by the goalies till referee Jonathan Tetteh of Accra brought hostilities of the first half to a halt.

The second half however, delayed beyond the stipulated 15 minutes to allow security to be beefed-up as the spectators appeared agitated as a result of alleged bias officiating demonstrated against the host by referee Tetteh with the interpretation of some of the laws of the game. The incensed spectators registered their protest through booing and jeering at referee Tetteh for being uncharitable with his cards for obvious and grievous tackles.

From then Voradep levelled up the scores in the 55th minute when inside right Bessa Tugah beautifully connected a non-drop shot from a Dekua's cross from the left flank to beat keeper Razak of Nania FC sending the spectators into unceasing jubilation.

Goal-scorer Bessa was soon substituted for Joshua Lamptey after an off-the-ball incident when he was rushed to the hospital for further medical attention.

Voradep's Kumako and Maladza failed in the 63rd and 75th minutes respectively to increase the tally for their side as their attempt at scoring were thwarted by the agility of keeper Razak.

However, the irate spectators followed with their protest and heckled reporters from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation from covering the match saying "it was because of Abedi Pele and Nania FC that they were at the stadium saying they had never covered any Division One league match in the Region and why now".
