Narh Batters Palyani For PA Lightweight Strap

Philadelphia, PA - Ramazan Palyani and Ray Narh both had only one blemish on each of their records going into Friday?s Main Event for the Pennsylvania Lightweight Title. Palyani, a southpaw from the former Soviet Union, had one draw in 15 fights while his foe, Ray Narh, originally from Ghana, suffered only one defeat in 20 bouts.

Narh started the bout with long ranging punches but no power. That was to change quickly as Ray?s accuracy was excellent followed by the harder punches, especially long right hands. Palyani tried to rush inside those long rights, but was greeted by quick lefts to the face.

Palyani was cut near the left eye brow in the 1st stanza, but the cut never caused any problems for Ramazan. The right uppercuts that Narh was able to notch on Palyani?s chin in the 4th round did seem to cause Palyani some pain and essentially the turning point in the fight. Earlier Palyani was able to score punches from his back foot, but he got stunned but never stopped trying to score. Wide left hands were puffing up Ray?s right eye but the momentum would be short lived. By the 6th round, he was not unable to get punches off while retreating and Narh was advancing without penalty. The 7th round saw Narh land several effective flurries and not only furthering his scorecard lead, but winning the real estate battle in the ring. Palyani seemed to only have his heart working for him in the 8th round when Narh dropped him. Ray let loose with a non-stop attack, beating Palyani with both hands and when Palyani turned and held his gloves to his head the ref, Gary Rosato jumped in for the stoppage. After showing restraint while Narh pounded Palyani, Rosato stopped it at the right time, which was 2:05 of the 8th round.
