Accra, Feb. 23, GNA - The Ghana Chess Association is to organize an Open Chess Championship at the Media Centre of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on Saturday, February 27. Mr Eddie Thompson, Tournament Director of the Ghana Chess Association who disclosed this in Accra on Tuesday, said the one-day event would be played over five-round Swiss System of 90 minutes per game. He said the competition is one of five events to serve as qualification for the International Chess Olympiad scheduled for Khanty Minsk, Russia in September, this year. Mr Thompson therefore entreated all the players to assemble for balloting and registration at 0830 hours.
