Accra, Oct. 6, GNA - The National Sports Council (NSC) is to embark on the promotion of traditional sporting events such as 'Ampe', 'Tumatu' and Wrestling as part of its efforts to promote the sports and encourage its mass participation in the country.

The NSC has therefore made open invitations to interested and result-driven as well as resourceful individuals for the formation of the nucleus of a National Association of Traditional Sports (NATS). Interested persons are therefore requested to get in touch with Mr Charles Aryeh, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the NSC at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra for further discussions. Meanwhile, the NSC has reminded the public about the formation of the National Rowing Association and called on individuals interested in the sport to contact NSC officials.

A statement signed on behalf of the Acting Chief Executive by Mr Hamah Hamid Issaka, Public Relations Officer of the NSC assured all individuals that there is 'new air' blowing at the Council who are ready to give the needed support to help in developing the lesser-known sports in the country.
