National Women’s League postponed

The Chairperson of the Ghana Women’s League Board, Leanier Addy, has revealed that the second edition of the National Women’s League has been postponed to November 23.

The twelve-club league was originally fixed to kick off on November 9, seven clear days after Coach Evans Adotey’s Black Maidens recorded a 2-0 win over Equatorial Guinea in the Costa Rica 2014 Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Leanier Addy explains that the Black Maidens technical team will still need to camp the ladies for the reverse encounter in Malabo on November 16 before releasing them to their clubs for the start of the National Women’s League.

“I believe we all saw the Maidens game and we realized that there were still some things that the Coach (Adotey) needed to work on so for them to have the full concentration, we (the board) decided that it will be appropriate to wait a week after the second leg (of the Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier) then the National Women’s League kicks off,” Leanier Addy told Live FM Sports.

Hasaacas Ladies won the maiden edition of the National Women’s League last season after beating Fabulous Ladies in the final at the Accra Sports Stadium in April this year.
