Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure, has urged the Sports Ministry in Ghana to stop focusing on just the Black Stars and give other sporting disciplines the needed support.

His comments come on the back of talents discovered in the Ashanti Region’s senior high schools’ super zonals.

To him, such talented athletes will just fade away after their High School Education because there is no plan and investment in other sporting disciplines.

In several posts shared via social media, the Journalist urged the Sports Ministry to sit up and ensure that investments in sports is not just limited to the Senior Male national team.

“Are we going to watch these phenomenal athletes from Kumasi high schools and elsewhere fade away?

With the talents on display at high school sports festivals, we have no reason to go begging Ghanaians born abroad to play for us.

The Ministry of Sports must stop being “Ministry for Black Stars.” Sporting talents in Ghana are helplessly wasting away,” he said.

Although every government that has come to Ghana has promised to invest in other sporting disciplines, it always turns out to be a hoax as their focus has always been football and especially the Black Stars.
