Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 10, Oct. The Netball Association of Ghana (NAG) has entered into a 10 million-cedi sponsorship deal with Super 06 Lottery company of Tarkwa. Under the package, the company will sponsor four national tournaments next year -- the special super 06 tournament, the national gala, the national league and the national knockout. Mr E. D. Nikoi, Chairman of NAG, announced this in Accra yesterday at the launching of the first netball tournament dubbed ''the super 06 netball tournament slated for Takoradi on Sunday, October 12. The tournament will feature the Revenue Maidens of the Internal Revenue Service, Poscom ladies (Accra), Telecom ladies (Koforidua), Telecom ladies (Kumasi), Kristo Asafo Church (Kumasi) and Multina ladies of Takoradi. Sunday's tournament is being sponsored at a cost of 1.5 million cedis. At stake is a magnificent trophy, donated by Super 06 Lottery Company. Mr Nikoi said government alone cannot fund the development and promotion of sports, and ''that is why the association welcomes such a positive contribution from an organisation like Super 06''. He said as an expression of gratitude to the company, the tournament will be a permanent feature on NAG's programme. Mr Nikoi said NAG also appointed Mr James Mensah and Mr Shepherd Mensah, Managing Director and Accra Representative, respectively of the company as Chief Patron and a Patron of the association. In a speech read for him, the Managing Director assured the Association of the company's support to develop the sport at both the local and international fronts. Among those present were Colonel George Brock, Acting Chief Executive of the National Sports Council (NSC) and Mr George Dasoberi, Chief Development officer of NSC.
