Netball team prepares for African Championships

As part of efforts to achieve success at the Africa Netball Championship (ANC), Netball Federation of Ghana (NFG) has invited 26, players to report for camp on August 5, in Accra.

The Golden Maidens will start training at the Accra Academy Senior High School.

Team Ghana will compete in a tourney against the Ivorian National Netball Team next month before travelling to Kenya to participate in the ANC in a championship scheduled for 20-30 November this year.

The ten-day event will form part of Ghana’s preparation ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations Netball tournament next year.

The 26 players invited were selected during the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games, the Colleges of Education Sports Festival at Akotsi and the Basic Schools Sports Festival at Ho last year.

The selected players will be pruned to 16 after a justify -your - inclusion exercise fixed for 4-8 August before the team departs to Ivory Coast to contest their counterpart in a three-day event.

The NFG will take advantage of its trip to Abidjan and Kenya to discuss development projects for Ghana Netball including programmes for umpires, coaches, and administrators.

The Ghanaian and Ivorian Netball Officials will further discuss the laying of the foundation for the formation of the West African Netball Union.
