Accra, May 9, GNA - Eight teams drawn from four regions are to participate in a one day Netball Tournament at Kpone in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday, May 19.
The tournament which is under the auspices of the Netball Association of Ghana, (NAG) forms part of the association's effort to revive the sport in the country.
The participating teams include, Cape Coast Ladies, Saema from Sekondi-Takoradi and Kete Krachi Ladies from the Volta Region, according to information gathered by the GNA Sports from the secretraiat of the Association.
The rest of the teams are Heritage Ladies and Fair Point Ladies from Kpone, Prampram Ladies and New Golden Ladies from Kaneshie, Accra. At stake will be a giant trophy and cash prizes donated by Mr Jospeh Arthur, Chairman of Kpone based Fair Point Football Club. According to the information, invitation has been extended to Milicent Awude, Fred Kpone and Emmanuel Eyison of Accra and Augustine Fugah of the University of Education, Winneba to serve as umpires while Rev. E.D. Nikoi will be the coordinator to be assisted by Elizabeth Akuba Archer, Secretary General of the Association. Nii Tetteh Otu will be the Guest of Honour.
