Ghana's new striker Chris Dickson has been handed a double boost as he has been recalled by English Championship side Charlton by to help the club return to the Premiership.
The news comes just six hours after Ghana coach Claude Leroy called the 22-year-old for the African Cup of Nations.
Dickson has been in outstanding form during his three-month loan stint at League One side Gillingham, plundering 11 goals in 11 matches.
The looks set to play his final game for Gillingham on Friday as manager Mark Stimson admits the striker is unlikely to return.
The club's 11-goal top scorer will return to Charlton after Friday's trip to Brighton, following his loan spell.
Although Charlton boss Alan Pardew has revealed he could even recall Dickson before the Brighton game after an injury to frontman Chris Iwelumo at West Brom on Saturday.
Stimson is already making plans to replace Dickson and said: "With the amount of goals he's scored there's going to be bigger clubs than ourselves looking at him.
"It will be hard for us to compete with those clubs.
"I hope he's enjoyed his time here and I hope he's fit enough to play against Brighton.
"If he is, what a way it will be to go out against your rivals, and hopefully he'll be looking to get a hat-trick and not be happy with just one."
On the prospect of luring the 22-year-old back to the club in January, Stimson added: "He is a player I would like to keep but we have lots of targets."
The performance and prospect of Dickson prompted Ghana coach Claude Leroy to call him into the Black Stars for the African Cup of Nations.
